In collaboration with our NGO Partner in Jharkhand we rolled out the Health on Wheels (HoW) project. This project has been initiated in the villages of Khunti and Murhu block to improve Maternal and Child Health. With this project we strive to provide increased access to health care services to the pregnant and lactating mothers and malnourished children. As a part of this approach we have introduced “Health on Wheels” initiative, which is an integrated first 1000 days program promoting health and wellbeing of pregnant and lactating mothers to reduce maternal and infant mortality. This pioneering initiative aims at bringing essential healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people in rural and remote areas of Khunti District.
The Health on Wheels project intends to bridge the gap between healthcare facilities and the marginalized communities by providing them with easily accessible and quality healthcare services of antenatal care examination and anthropometric measurement of children. Early identification and treatment plays a crucial role in treatment of malnutrition, through this program we are identifying and screening the SAM/MAM children before they become seriously ill.
